PEKAN 8.0:

SPIG UPI Students Master BIM Skills for

Integrated Spatial Information Management

Bandung, August 14–15, 2025 — The D4 Mapping Survei and Geospatial Information Program (SPIG) at the Faculty of Social Sciences Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (FPIPS UPI), successfully held the 8th Pemantapan Kemampuan Pemetaan (PEKAN 8.0) under the theme “Uniting Technology, Data, and Design through BIM Training for More Integrated and Adaptive Spatial Information Management.”

The two-day program, led by guest instructor Singgih Herdian Pamungkas, S.T., was designed to equip students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge in applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) within the geospatial industry. The training combined theoretical insights with intensive hands-on practice, ensuring participants gained both conceptual understanding and real-world application skills.

Students explored a range of topics. From mastering the fundamentals of BIM and understanding digital workflow processes, to integrating spatial and non-spatial data, and building fully functional BIM models. Using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and Navisworks, participants worked through practical exercises that challenged them to think critically, collaborate effectively, and present their modeling results.

More than just a technical training, PEKAN 8.0 encouraged a mindset of innovation, adaptability, and teamwork. The qualities essential for thriving in the fast-evolving geospatial sector. By the end of the program, students not only strengthened their technical expertise but also gained a broader perspective on how BIM can revolutionize modern mapping practices and spatial data management.

“This year’s PEKAN is more than a training. It’s an investment in our students’ future,” explained the Head SPIG program. “By uniting technology, data, and design, we are preparing graduates who can deliver structured, adaptive, and sustainable solutions in spatial information management.”

With PEKAN 8.0, SPIG UPI reaffirms its commitment to delivering relevant, industry-driven education that empowers its graduates to stand out academically and compete successfully in the global geospatial workforce.
