
The Tourism Marketing Management Study Program at the Indonesia University of Education held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme “Study of the Potential of Regional Revenue in Bandung Regency from the Tourism Sector and Analysis of the Multiplier Effect for the Local Community” on Monday, September 1, 2025, online via the Zoom Meeting platform.
This activity aims to:
- Explore the private sector's perception of the contribution and potential of the tourism sector to Local Revenue (PAD).
- Identify obstacles perceived by business actors in supporting the contribution of the tourism sector to PAD.
- Gather input related to opportunities for cooperation and innovation that can increase the contribution of the private sector to the regional economy.
- Understand the multiplier effect of tourism business activities on other sectors.
- Examine the potential loss if the synergy between the private sector and the government is not optimally built.
This FGD was attended by participants from various important elements of tourism in Bandung Regency, ranging from state-owned enterprises, tourist attraction managers, glamping business operators, travel agents, hotels and restaurants, suppliers, to tourist villages. Some of them are:
- PT Perhutani (Persero) Unit III and PT Perkebunan Nusantara I Regional 2.
- Nimo Highland tourist attraction management
- Glamping businesses such as Rengganis, eMTe Highland, and others.
- Travel agencies such as Jo Nusantara Adventure, PT Pradana Tour Travel, and Anugrah Rafting & Adventure.
- PHRI representatives from hotels, homestays, and restaurants.
- Local businesses such as Padasuka peuyeum suppliers and Alamendah Tourism Village.
Ms. Heri Puspito Diyah Setiyorini, Ph.D., as the moderator, guided the discussion with a structured flow so that all participants could express their views and experiences in a balanced manner.
Several important points that emerged from the FGD results included:
- The importance of synergy between local government and the private sector in creating a healthy tourism ecosystem.
- The need to improve infrastructure, promotion, and regulations conducive to encouraging investment in the tourism sector.
- Optimizing cross-sector collaboration to strengthen the multiplier effect for local communities, including the involvement of farmers, artisans, and MSMEs.
This FGD is a tangible example of academics' contribution to bridging the dialogue between tourism businesses and local governments. It is hoped that the results of this study will support the formulation of policies that have a positive impact on increasing the local revenue of Bandung Regency as well as the welfare of the local community.
