Summer Program (Sustainable Tourism and Cultural Innovation) – Day 3: Addressing Food Waste in Food Tourism and Promoting Sustainability Practices among Indonesian Micro-Hospitality Entrepreneurs

As part of the Sustainable Tourism & Cultural Innovation Summer Program, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in collaboration with Naresuan University, Thailand, held an online presentation session on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. This activity presented two speakers from UPI, namely Dr. Gitasiswhara, SE.Par., MM, and Taufik Abdullah, Ph.D., who presented material entitled "Addressing Food Waste in Food Tourism and Promoting Sustainability Practices among Indonesian Micro-Hospitality Entrepreneurs."

In their presentation, both speakers highlighted the importance of awareness of food waste management in the culinary tourism sector as well as the implementation of sustainability practices for micro-hospitality and tourism entrepreneurs in Indonesia. The interactive discussion was dynamic, with high enthusiasm from Naresuan University students who showed interest in sustainability issues and cultural innovation in tourism.

Through this activity, it is hoped that a cross-country understanding of the importance of sustainable innovation in the global tourism industry will be created. This program is also a concrete step in strengthening academic collaboration between UPI and Naresuan University, and encouraging students to be more sensitive to environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism practices.
