PPID UPI dibentuk sebagai salah satu langkah strategis dalam mengimplementasikan Undang-Undang Nomor 14 Tahun 2008 tentang Keterbukaan Informasi Publik (UU KIP). PPID UPI berfungsi untuk menjamin keterbukaan, transparansi, dan akuntabilitas penyampaian informasi publik di lingkungan Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
Sebagai pemegang amanah utama, PPID UPI dipimpin oleh Sekretaris Universitas (SU) yang bertanggung jawab langsung kepada Rektor UPI. Rektor bertindak sebagai atasan PPID UPI yang memastikan seluruh kegiatan dan kebijakan informasi publik dikelola sesuai dengan peraturan yang berlaku.
Information that must be updated is then provided and announced to the public on a regular or periodic basis at least once every 6 months
Information that must be provided by Public Bodies and be readily available to be given directly to Public Information Applicants when there is a request for Public Information.
Information relating to people's livelihoods and public order must be announced immediately without delay.
Information that cannot be accessed by public information applicants as intended in Law Number 14 of 2008. Excluded information is strict and limited.
Requests for information submitted to the university level PPID are public information in nature.
Complaints are directed to the Faculty unit to inform about the services provided.
