MIK Student Wins International Halal Chef Competition with “Journey of Java” Concept

[JAKARTA] – Pride shines once again from the world of vocational education. Mochamad Brian Faisal, a student of the Catering Industry Management (MIK) Study Program, clinched the 1st Winner title in the National - Vocational (Fesyar) category at the prestigious Indonesia International Halal Chef Competition (IN2HCC) 2025. The competition, part of the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF), was held at the JIEXpo Convention Center, Kemayoran, Jakarta, from October 8-12, 2025.

Brian outperformed dozens of participants from various vocational institutions across Indonesia by presenting a menu titled "Journey of Java." The judges praised this concept for not only meeting high halal culinary standards but also elevating a cultural narrative and the local richness of Java through a creative and authentic "journey" of flavors.

A Concept that Tells a Story Through Taste

The "Journey of Java" menu crafted by Brian was designed to take the judges and food enthusiasts on a culinary exploration across the island of Java. Each element of his dish represented the characteristic flavors of different regions, united through modern cooking techniques and artistic plating.

The Indonesia International Halal Chef Competition (IN2HCC) is one of Asia's largest halal culinary competitions and a key part of ISEF. The event aims to elevate global halal culinary standards and creativity, while also serving as a platform for chefs, culinary professionals, and students to showcase their talent and exchange knowledge. The Vocational category is specifically designated for participants from vocational high schools and colleges.

With this achievement, Mochamad Brian Faisal has not only brought honor to his institution but also inspired others, proving that Indonesian cuisine has limitless potential to go global with the creative touch of the younger generation.
