Students of the Tourism Marketing Management Study Program (MPP) class of 2024 implemented sustainable event management concepts through their direct involvement in organizing the 47th anniversary celebration of Gudangkahuripan Village. This activity served as a practical implementation of the Sustainable Event Management course as well as part of the Community Service Program (PKM).
The activity aimed to apply professional and sustainable event governance standards to the village anniversary celebration, ensuring that the event was not only festive but also technically well-organized while generating positive impacts on environmental, economic, social, and cultural aspects of the local community.
The Milangkala celebration showcased various elements of local creativity and community potential. The event began with a Cultural Carnival featuring a jampana parade involving representatives from 15 neighborhood units (RW), highlighting each area's artistic identity and economic potential.
The program continued with a Traditional Arts Festival presenting performances of jaipongan, pencak silat, and ketuk tilu by local artists. The highlight of the celebration was a Wayang Golek performance by puppeteer Khanha Ade Kosasih Sunarya (Putra Giriharja 2 Putu), representing efforts to preserve the noble values of Sundanese culture.
Beyond cultural activities, students also implemented environmental awareness initiatives through an integrated waste management system designed to minimize post-event waste impact. Local economic empowerment was realized through an MSME Bazaar featuring culinary products and local specialties produced by residents of Gudangkahuripan Village.
This activity provided students with direct experiential learning opportunities to apply event management theories in a real community setting. Through active collaboration with village officials, community leaders, youth organizations, and residents from 15 neighborhood units, students gained practical experience in managing inclusive, collaborative, and sustainability-oriented events.
The Gudangkahuripan Village anniversary celebration was held on April 25–26, 2026, at Sinapeul Football Field, Gudangkahuripan Village. The event received positive responses from the community, who appreciated the improved event organization and effective field coordination. The presence of students successfully introduced modern event management practices while preserving local traditions and cultural values that define the village’s identity.
This activity aligns with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities through cultural preservation and strengthening community identity. It also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through local MSME empowerment, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through environmental management and integrated cleanliness systems, and SDG 4: Quality Education through practice-based experiential learning for students.
Through this activity, MPP students of the 2024 cohort not only developed academic competencies but also contributed directly to community development grounded in culture and sustainability.
