Strengthening Lifelong Networks: UPI Communication Studies Study Programme Hosts Alumni Gathering to Commemorate 15th Anniversary

BANDUNG - Marking a milestone decade and a half of academic excellence, the Communication Studies Study Programme successfully hosted an Alumni Gathering on Monday, June 1, 2026.

The warmly received event brought together alumni across various graduating cohorts. The primary objective of this gathering was to reinforce internal kinship while building a more robust, synergistic professional network among alumnae who are now actively thriving in various industrial sectors.

The event was officially inaugurated by the Head of the Communication Studies Study Programme, Dr. Ahmad Fahrul Muchtar Affandi, M.Si. In his opening remarks, he expressed profound appreciation for the alumni's presence and emphasized the strategic role that an engaged alumni network plays in driving the future advancement of the study programme.

Following the opening session, Alwan Husni Ramdani, M.I.Kom., delivered an insightful presentation highlighting the current developments within the department. His material covered recent academic milestones, upgraded campus facilities, and the contemporary challenges facing modern communications higher education.

Synergy for Quality Education and Inclusion (SDG 4 & SDG 17)

The core agenda transitioned into a highly collaborative Focus Group Discussion (FGD) facilitated by Yanuar Ilham, S.Ds., M.I.Kom. This strategic session served as an open forum for alumni to exchange constructive ideas, share professional feedback, and map out tangible contributions they can offer to their alma mater and current undergraduates.

This collaborative dialogue directly advances SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By leveraging the expertise of industry professionals, the Communication Studies Study Programme ensures its academic ecosystem remains robustly connected to real-world workforce demands. The insights gathered will directly enrich student readiness, mentorship opportunities, and experiential learning pathways.

Decent Work and Structural Consolidation (SDG 8)

As a crucial concluding act to the gathering, the alumni took part in the election of the President and Vice President of the Communication Studies Alumni Association. The formalization of this leadership board is expected to serve as an official, highly structured vessel to consolidate the potential of all graduates sustainably.

This structural initiative aligns with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by building an institutional support system that provides current students and young graduates with access to professional mentorship, career opportunities, and cross-industry job placements.

With the successful adjournment of the 2026 Alumni Gathering, the Communication Studies Study Programme hopes that the bonds of family built over the last 15 years will grow increasingly solid, fostering a transformative impact on both the academic institution and society at large.
