The Tourism Marketing Management (MPP) Program at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI) once again welcomed new students through the Seed Sparks 2026 event, held from September 18 to October 2, 2026, on the UPI campus. This event serves as one of the first steps to help new students adapt to academic life while getting to know the student community at MPP.
Embracing the spirit of “Born to Be Leaders,” Seed Sparks portrays new students as “seeds” with the potential to continue growing and developing. Through a series of activities, new students are not only introduced to the academic environment but are also encouraged to develop their communication, leadership, collaboration, and problem solving skills.
The Seed Sparks 2026 program is divided into three main phases. The first phase focuses on introducing academic and student life aspects, as well as implementing the 5G standards (Grooming, Greeting, Gesture, Gracious, and the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism). The next phase introduces the bureaucratic system, administration, organizations, and the dynamics of student council meetings. Meanwhile, the final stage is geared toward personal and leadership development through an introduction to student organizations such as HIMA MPP and the FPIPS Senate.
Through these activities, new students are expected to gain a more comprehensive understanding of academic and student life while developing adaptive, communicative, responsible, and professional character traits. This orientation also serves as part of the students’ preparation to meet the demands of the dynamic tourism industry and its increasingly global work environment.
Clara Angelina, as the Executive Chair, stated that being part of the Seed Sparks program provided a valuable experience, particularly in learning about leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and overcoming various challenges throughout the program. She hopes that Seed Sparks can be more than just a welcome event, but rather a first step for the 2026 MPP freshmen to continue growing, embrace the process, and build positive relationships.
With a program designed to support academic, professional, and social development, Seed Sparks 2026 is expected to help new students discover their potential while fostering a sense of belonging within the MPP community. This event marks the beginning of the students’ academic journey, equipping them with a passion for learning and the readiness to continue growing.
The Seed Sparks 2026 program aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education through the development of students’ knowledge, skills, character, and leadership abilities. In addition, training in communication, collaboration, and readiness for the professional world supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, particularly in equipping the younger generation with competencies relevant to the workforce.
