Strengthening Industry Partnerships:

SPIG UPI Explores Collaboration with Pageo Utama and Celebrates First Graduates of Pageo Academy

Program Studi Survei Pemetaan dan Informasi Geografis (SPIG) Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) terus memperkuat sinergi dengan mitra daerah dalam penyelenggaraan Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). Salah satu wujud nyata sinergi tersebut adalah pertemuan koordinasi dan monitoring yang digelar antara SPIG UPI dan Dinas Komunikasi dan Informatika (Diskominfo) Kabupaten Purwakarta pada Senin, 14 Juli 2025, bertempat di ruang rapat Diskominfo Purwakarta.

Pertemuan ini dihadiri oleh Kepala Prodi SPIG Dr. Nanin Trianawati Sugito, ST., M.T., tim penggerak MBKM SPIG, Kepala dan staf Diskominfo Purwakarta.. Agenda utama adalah evaluasi program MBKM semester genap 2024/2025 dan penyusunan strategi pelaksanaan MBKM semester ganjil 2025/2026.

Jakarta, July 17, 2025 – The Vocational Program in Mapping Survey and Geographic Information (SPIG), Faculty of Social Sciences Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), continues its efforts to bridge education with industry needs through a significant collaboration visit to PT Pageo Utama in East Jakarta.

The visit not only marked the initiation of strategic partnership discussions but also celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of Category B Hydrographic Surveyors from Pageo Academy.|

The event, held at the headquarters of PT Pageo Utama on Dewi Sartika Street, brought together academic leaders and industry experts to explore opportunities for joint programs in professional certification, student internships, applied research, and curriculum development tailored to geospatial industry standards.

Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Ir. Sobri Syawie, M.M., representing PT Pageo Utama's management, followed by introductions of prominent academic guests, including:

1. Dr. techn. Dudy Darmawan Wijaya, S.T., M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology –  Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB)

2. Dr. rer. nat. Wiwin Windupranata, S.T., M.Si., Head of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering Program – ITB

3. Arif Rohman, S.T., M.T., Vice-Rector for Finance and General Affairs – Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA)

4. Dr. Nanin Trianawati Sugito, S.T., M.T., Head of SPIG Program – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia

The discussions underscored several collaborative priorities, including:

1. Structured internship opportunities for SPIG students

2. Joint professional certification programs aligned with IHO standards

3. Applied research and technological development in hydrographic and geospatial surveying

4. Industry-driven updates to vocational curricula

A highlight of the event was the graduation ceremony for the first cohort of Pageo Academy’s Category B Hydrographic Surveyor program, a rigorous training initiative based on International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards. Graduates were officially recognized for their competencies and are now poised to contribute to both national and international hydrographic and mapping projects.

This milestone signifies a critical step forward in aligning educational outcomes with industry demands and in building a robust talent pipeline for Indonesia’s growing geospatial sector. The SPIG Program at UPI remains committed to cultivating industry-ready professionals through continuous collaboration, innovation, and curriculum enhancement.
