Community Service 2025: HIMA MPP at Tarumajaya Tourism Village

The Tourism Marketing Management Student Association (HIMA MPP) from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable tourism development through the Community Service Program (P2M) 2025. Held over four days and three nights, from January 16–19, 2025, in Tarumajaya Tourism Village, the event carried the theme "GEMAH DESA." This program aimed to educate, empower the local community, and develop tourism potential through a community-based approach.

The first day of P2M began with a sharing session featuring village officials, local residents, and a guest speaker from the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), Mr. Gunawan. He delivered an insightful session on "Homestay Management," providing valuable knowledge on professional homestay operations as part of the village’s tourism development strategy. The discussion was highly interactive, allowing local residents to ask questions and share their perspectives. To encourage engagement, prizes were given to the most active participants.

On the second day, activities started early as the committee was divided into several teams based on their respective tasks. One team conducted an educational outreach program at MTS AI-Fitroh, introducing the concept of a tourism village to 8th-grade students through interactive games, making the learning process more enjoyable. Simultaneously, another team carried out a clean-up activity at Al-Ikhlas Mosque, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for worship. Meanwhile, the digital marketing team worked on promoting Tarumajaya’s tourist destinations, including Pakawa, Kampung Heritage Lodaya, and Situ Cisanti. They captured Instagram Story footage and drone documentation to enhance the village’s online visibility. In the afternoon, a charity clothing bazaar was held in front of the BUMDes Office, where local residents could purchase donated clothes at affordable prices.

The third day was dedicated to environmental and health awareness activities. One of the major initiatives was the planting of 40 hardwood trees at Sector 23 Field, as part of the village’s reforestation efforts. Additionally, Tarum trees were planted along the banks of Situ Cisanti, with participation from UPI P2M students, UNPAD KKN students, and local government representatives. In the healthcare sector, P2M collaborated with Santosa Public Health Center to provide free blood sugar check-ups for local residents. Another key activity was fire safety training in partnership with the Pangalengan Fire Department, focusing on fire prevention techniques for local women. Participants learned both theoretical and hands-on methods, including how to use fire extinguishers, and those who actively participated received grocery packages as rewards.

While these activities took place, games for children, such as tug-of-war, water volleyball, and soccer, were organized to foster stronger bonds between the committee and village children. The evening was marked by the Grand Night of P2M, which began at 7:00 PM. The event showcased performances from local residents, including songs, dances, and a musical drama, while the committee also contributed by performing a modern dance routine. The night was further enlivened by a lucky draw and interactive games, bringing everyone together in a joyful celebration.

On the final day, the team began by cleaning up the homestays, followed by a communal meal (liwetan) as a symbol of unity before their departure. At 12:30 PM, the committee gathered at Tarumajaya Village Hall for the closing ceremony, during which a certificate of appreciation was presented to the village as a token of gratitude for the successful collaboration. After a group photo session, the team departed at 4:00 PM for their initial meeting point at At-Taqwa Mosque KPAD.

The P2M 2025 program received immense appreciation from various parties. Ahmad Eden Iksan, S.E., the Head of Tarumajaya Village, expressed his gratitude, stating that HIMA MPP’s initiatives were extraordinary and hoped that such programs would continue to benefit the village and its residents. He also encouraged students to maintain their support in developing Tarumajaya’s tourism potential, wishing them success in their future endeavors.

Syifa Nurhalizah, the P2M Chairperson, shared her pride in the event’s success, emphasizing that this year’s P2M was not only about sharing knowledge but also about true collaboration in village development. Similarly, Raisha Putri, Head of the CSR Division, highlighted the valuable experience gained through P2M, expressing gratitude for the team’s dedication and hoping for an even broader impact in the coming years.

One of the P2M volunteers, Ilham Rizki, also shared his personal experience, saying that participating in P2M was a great learning opportunity, particularly in educating and engaging with the community. He hoped that future P2M initiatives would continue to expand and benefit more villages.

The 2025 P2M Program in Tarumajaya Tourism Village was more than just a community service event—it was a true manifestation of collaboration and a commitment to sustainable tourism development. With this shared vision, it is hoped that this initiative inspires future generations to continue contributing to society and the environment.
