
Bandung, Indonesia – The Department of Tourism Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) – (Manajemen Pemasaran Pariwisata, Manajemen Resort dan Leisure, Manajemen Industri Katering, dan Pendidikan Pariwisata), proudly announces the International Seminar on Tourism (ISOT) 2026, an international academic forum that brings together scholars, researchers, students, industry professionals, and policymakers to discuss contemporary issues and future directions in sustainable tourism development.
Scheduled to be held in a hybrid format on November 10, 2026, at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, ISOT 2026 is organized collaboratively by the Department of Tourism Education’s academic programs, namely Tourism Marketing Management, Resort and Leisure Management, Culinary Industry Management, and Tourism Education.
This year’s seminar carries the theme “Transforming Tourism System: Advancing Sustainability, Environmental, and Spatial Resilience and Community Empowerment Across Destination.” The conference aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and international collaboration in addressing emerging challenges and opportunities within the global tourism sector.
ISOT 2026 will feature Prof. Neil Carr from the University of Otago, New Zealand, as the keynote speaker. The seminar will also welcome distinguished speakers including Prof. Rick Honings (Leiden University, Netherlands), Dr. Fitri Rahmafitria (Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Indonesia), and Dr. Elise Mognard (Taylor’s University, Malaysia).
The conference scope encompasses a wide range of topics, including environmental sustainability and climate resilience in tourism, sustainability research and education, tourism industry governance, community empowerment, social inclusion, cultural heritage tourism, digital transformation, media, and visitor engagement.
The submission period for abstracts and full papers, along with participant registration, is open from May 20 to July 20, 2026. Acceptance results will be announced on July 30, 2026, while the final camera-ready paper submission deadline is October 16, 2026.
Selected high-quality papers will have the opportunity to be further developed for publication with reputable international publishers, subject to editorial review and publication requirements.
Through ISOT 2026, UPI seeks to strengthen international academic networks and generate innovative ideas that contribute to building a more sustainable, resilient, and community-centered tourism future.
