
An outstanding academic achievement has been accomplished by a student of the Tourism Marketing Management Study Program (MPP) at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Fanny Magdalena Hutapea successfully published a research article in the internationally indexed Q3 journal Journal of Tourism and Development, recognized within the Scopus database. The article entitled “Bandung as an Urban Tourism Destination: Analysing Stakeholder Collaboration in Marketing Communication” examines the importance of stakeholder collaboration in developing effective marketing communication strategies for urban tourism destinations. The study focuses on Bandung as a case study, reflecting the city’s rapid growth as an urban tourism destination in Indonesia. Through a qualitative research approach, Fanny Magdalena Hutapea analyzed how collaboration among tourism stakeholders can align destination promotion with actual visitor experiences. The findings highlight that strong coordination, technology utilization, and responsive destination management play essential roles in enhancing tourist experiences and strengthening urban tourism competitiveness. The successful publication in a Scopus-indexed international journal demonstrates the capability of MPP UPI students to produce research that meets global academic standards while addressing real-world tourism challenges. This achievement reflects the growing research culture among students and their contribution to advancing tourism knowledge. From a sustainability perspective, the study supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities through sustainable urban destination management. It also contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by strengthening the tourism sector and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaborative engagement among academia, government, industry, and society. Fanny Magdalena Hutapea’s Scopus publication highlights the important role of students as emerging scholars capable of producing impactful international research. The achievement is expected to inspire more students to actively engage in academic research and strengthen Indonesia’s presence in global tourism scholarship.
