Bandung, April 2025 - The Civic Education (Civics) Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Social Science Education (FPIPS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia again made an academic achievement by graduating one of its best doctoral candidates, Rika Kartika, S.IP., M.Si., through an open doctoral promotion session.
In an open session that took place at the Auditorium Lt. 6 FPIPS UPI, Rika Kartika successfully defended her dissertation entitled:
"Habaib and Nation Character Building: A Phenomenological Study of the Da'wah Role of Hadrami Arab Habaib in Java after the 1998 Reformation."
This research explores the contribution of Habaib's culture and spirituality in building national character in post-reform Indonesia, and provides a new perspective in the study of citizenship education based on local and Islamic values.
The open examination was attended by a team of examiners consisting of professors and leading academics, namely Prof. Dr. Karim Suryadi, M.Si., Dr. Rahmat, M.Si., Dr. Syaifullah, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Siti Nurbayani M.Si., and Dr. Ahmad Bakir Ihsan, M.Si.. The procession was solemn with a question and answer session that showed strong mastery of the material and significant scientific contributions from the promovendus.
With this graduation, UPI Civics Doctoral Program continues to demonstrate its commitment in producing scientists and researchers who are able to answer the challenges of the times and enrich the scientific treasures of citizenship in Indonesia. Congratulations to Dr. Rika Kartika for this extraordinary achievement.
