BANDUNG - Marking its 15th anniversary, the Communication Studies Study Programme successfully organized the "IKOM League," a three-day sports event designed for faculty members, active students, and alumni. Bearing the forward-looking theme "To Infinity and Beyond," the tournament aimed to strengthen interpersonal connections and build vibrant communicative bridges within the academic community.

The competitive series kicked off on Monday, May 11, 2026, with a high-spirited Badminton Fun Match, which drew massive attendance from active students across all cohorts, lecturers, and returning alumni. The excitement shifted digital on Tuesday, May 12, with an Esports Fun Match. Introducing FC26 as its core competitive title, the esports segment brought a fresh, contemporary flavor to this year’s anniversary celebration. The multi-day event concluded on Wednesday, May 13, with the highly anticipated Mini Soccer Fun Match a timeless annual tradition that saw the Class of 2023 dramatically securing their third consecutive championship title.

Promoting Well-Being and Synergy (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being)

Agility and spirit: An active student delivers a powerful serve during the Fun Match Badminton event, promoting physical well-being (SDG 3) within the academic community.

The unyielding enthusiasm of the participants was evident throughout the entire execution of the IKOM League. Beyond the thrill of competition, the initiative actively promoted SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by encouraging physical fitness, mental resilience, and active lifestyles among students and faculty members alike.

Through the interactions built during these matches, participants did not merely display athletic strategies; they fostered organic communication, unity, and a profound sense of family. The league successfully demonstrated how sports can serve as a powerful medium to nurture mental health and social well-being within a demanding academic environment.

Embracing the digital era: Two competitors focus intently during the newly introduced Esport Fun Match (FC26 title), bringing a contemporary edge to the anniversary league.

Fostering Inclusivity and Partnerships (SDG 16 & SDG 17)

Aligned with its core theme, "To Infinity and Beyond," the event represented the relentless spirit of the Communication Studies Study Programme to grow beyond boundaries, both in academic excellence and social harmony. The active participation of lecturers and alumni added a layer of collaborative warmth, turning the 15th Dies Natalis into a collective space that embodies SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strong internal networking.

Furthermore, by cultivating an environment of fair play, mutual respect, and sportsmanship, the event reinforces the principles of SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) at a grassroots level, proving that competitive spaces can coexist peacefully with solidarity. The IKOM League stands as a testament that healthy competition can strengthen institutional culture and unite a diverse academic family.
