Bandung, June 30, 2025 – Civic Education student associations from various universities across West Java gathered for the 5th Symposium and Gathering of Civic Education Student Associations. This event was organized by the Student Executive Board of the Civics and Law Student Association (BEM HMCH) of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), carrying the theme “Digital Activism: Voicing Change in the Era of Advancement.” The event took place on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the 2nd Floor of the Student Center Building, UPI.

The event was officially opened by the Head of the Integrated Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Civic Education Program, Dr. Syaifullah, M.Si., who in his opening speech emphasized the importance of students' roles as agents of change in the digital era. He stressed that digital activism is not merely about presence on social media, but about how technology can be utilized to voice justice, uphold Pancasila values, and build critical awareness in society.

The symposium was attended by delegates from several Civic Education student associations in West Java, including: Civics and Law Student Association (HMCH) UPI Bandung, PPKn Student Association of STKIP Pasundan Cimahi, Civic Education Student Association of UNINUS Bandung, and other associations from various universities who joined the event online via Zoom Meeting. During the symposium sessions, participants discussed various trending issues circulating on Indonesian social media, including social policies like the Military Barracks Policy issued by the Governor of West Java, the Indonesia in Darkness campaign, and environmental issues such as nickel mining in Raja Ampat.

Participants analyzed how digital activism plays a crucial role in raising public awareness and influencing policymaking, provided it is communicated ethically, wisely, and based on accurate data.

The event concluded with a reflection session and a joint commitment to continue voicing national and social issues through digital media in a responsible and thoughtful manner. More than just an intellectual forum, the event served as a platform for networking and movement consolidation among Civic Education students across campuses. Moving forward, this initiative aims to foster stronger collaboration and unified actions in addressing national challenges through creative and educational digital strategies.
