The workshop aimed to provide training for Pancasila Education teachers to instill green living values using a deep learning approach. The Head of Community Service, Prof. Kokom Komalasari, stated that green values are crucial for students to internalize in order to support sustainable development. Today's teachers and students must realize that in addition to learning to respect human rights and justice among fellow human beings, we must also be fair to the natural world that sustains our survival. This workshop also taught teachers how to instill green living values with a mindful, meaningful, and joyful approach, in line with the deep learning approach currently being promoted by the Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Purwakarta, August 7, 2025 – Lecturers from the Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) Study Program at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI), in collaboration with the Pancasila Education Subject Teachers' Conference (MGMP) of Junior High Schools in Purwakarta Regency, held a Community Service activity entitled "Digital-Based Green Living Values Project Learning Model in Pancasila Education." This activity was attended by Pancasila Education teachers from junior high schools throughout Purwakarta Regency and was held at SMP Negeri 1 Purwakarta.
The event featured three keynote speakers:
- Prof. Dr. Kokom Komalasari, M.Pd., as head of the Community Service team, presented a Deep Learning Model Based on Green Living Values in Pancasila Education in the Digital Era. She explained the concept of green living values, namely values that encourage a sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle. This concept integrates ecological awareness (ecological citizenship) into Pancasila learning, so that students not only understand national values but also have an active responsibility for environmental preservation to support sustainable development.
- Dr. Iim Siti Masyitoh, M.Si., discussed the Development of a Deep Learning Module Based on Green Living Values. Dr. Iim emphasized the importance of assessments that encourage students to think critically, reflectively, and contextually. According to him, in-depth learning evaluations not only assess final results but also assess students' thought processes, learning strategies, and behavioral transformations, fostering awareness of themselves, their communities, and the natural environment that sustains humankind on this earth.
- Dede Iswandi, M.Pd., presented on "In-depth Learning Media Based on Green Living Values." He highlighted the role of interactive and personalized digital learning media, such as simulations, case analyses, and educational games. These media must integrate the values of environmental stewardship, simplicity, and social responsibility to strengthen students' understanding of Pancasila while fostering awareness of environmental sustainability.
The teachers attending the workshop enthusiastically participated in the presentation sessions, resulting in a lively discussion, with constructive opinions and input for the Pancasila Education subject at the junior high school level, particularly regarding strategies for internalizing green living values through a deep learning approach in the current digital era. The Head of the Pancasila Education MGMP of Purwakarta Regency, Agus Yudha Permana, S.Pd., appreciated this activity for providing inspiration and practical skills to teachers in developing Pancasila learning with a deep learning approach relevant to the challenges of today's digital era. By prioritizing Green Life Values, it is hoped that a generation will emerge that is intellectually intelligent, socially aware, and has a strong ecological perspective.
