
Bandung – In celebration of its 71st Anniversary, the Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Integrated Civic Education Study Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), officially launched a new book entitled “Futuristic Civic Education: How to Strengthen the Role of Civic Education in Responding to the Future?”. The launch event was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:30 PM (WIB).
The book, edited by Dr. Syaifullah, S.Pd., M.Si., was published through a collaboration between CV. Jendela Hasanah and the Civic Education Study Program FPIPS UPI. It comprises 53 book chapters contributed by lecturers, teachers, and Civic Education scholars from diverse backgrounds.
In his remarks, the Head of the Integrated Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Civic Education Study Program FPIPS UPI, Dr. Syaifullah, S.Pd., M.Si., expressed his gratitude for the successful completion of this publication. He emphasized that the book represents an important step in enriching Civic Education scholarship that is adaptive and responsive to the challenges of the times.
“This book presents a variety of perspectives on Civic Education in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), digital literacy, political education, legal education, democratic education, Pancasila-based culture and character, local wisdom, globalization, and green citizenship. With such diverse perspectives, the book is expected to make Civic Education increasingly relevant to the dynamics of contemporary society,” he stated.
Dr. Syaifullah also underlined the importance of preserving the spirit and identity of Civic Education as a values- and morality-based education rooted in Pancasila. He noted that the challenges of digitalization and accelerating social change demand wise citizenship and the strengthening of Pancasila as a living ideology.
“On behalf of the Civic Education Study Program FPIPS UPI, we extend our highest appreciation to the editorial team and contributors who dedicated their thoughts and efforts. Their contributions will further enrich Civic Education as a discipline that is consistently adaptive and responsive to societal, national, and global dynamics,” he added.
The launch of this book is expected to benefit not only the academic community of Civic Education but also the broader public concerned with the advancement of education in today’s digital era.
