Webinar “Futuristic Civic Education” Highlights the 71st Anniversary of the Civic Education Study Program at FPIPS UPI (Quality Education, SDG-s 4)

Bandung, September 17, 2025 — The Integrated Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Civic Education (PKn) Study Program, Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), held a National Webinar entitled “Futuristic Civic Education: How to Strengthen the Role of Civic Education in Responding to the Future?” on Wednesday (9/17/2025), from 1:00 to 3:30 PM (WIB). This academic forum was one of the main events to commemorate the 71st Anniversary of the Civic Education Study Program at FPIPS UPI.

The event opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Dr. Cecep Darmawan, S.H., S.I.P., S.A.P., S.Pd., M.Si., M.H., CPM., Dean of FPIPS UPI, who emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of Civic Education as the forefront of character education and democracy in the midst of rapid social change. Following him, Dr. Syaifullah, S.Pd., M.Si., Head of the Integrated Civic Education Study Program FPIPS UPI, highlighted that this webinar served as both academic reflection and innovative thinking to reinforce the contribution of Civic Education in responding to global challenges.

The webinar featured five distinguished speakers in the field of Civic Education:

  1. Prof. Dr. Tjipto Sumadi, M.Si., M.Pd. (Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Civic Education, Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Jakarta),
  2. Prof. Dr. Akadun, M.Pd. (Vice Rector I, Universitas Sebelas April Sumedang),
  3. Prof. Dr. Kokom Komalasari, M.Pd. (Professor of the Integrated Civic Education Study Program, FPIPS UPI),
  4. Dr. Iim Siti Masyitoh, M.Si. (Lecturer of the Integrated Civic Education Study Program, FPIPS UPI),
  5. Dr. Asep Mahpudz, M.Si. (Lecturer of the Integrated Civic Education Study Program, FPIPS UPI).

The academic discussion was moderated by Dr. Rika Sartika, M.Pd., creating an interactive atmosphere that highlighted futuristic perspectives on Civic Education in the face of digitalization, globalization, and social transformation. The event was hosted by Vini Agustiani Hadian, M.Pd. as Master of Ceremony.

Through this event, the Civic Education Study Program of FPIPS UPI reaffirmed its commitment to being a center of excellence in developing knowledge, practice, and policies in Civic Education that are relevant to the future dynamics of the nation and the world.
