The Student Association of the Tourism Marketing Management Program (HIMA MPP) at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI), through its Human Resource Development (HRD) Division, organized an Orientation and Introduction Event for the Class of 2026 in Tourism Marketing Management as part of the initial series of activities for new student leadership development. The event, held online via Google Meet, was attended by more than 100 new students from the class of 2026.
This event served as a first step in helping new students become familiar with the college environment, academic culture, and various aspects that will be part of their journey while pursuing their studies in the Tourism Marketing Management Program. The transition from high school to college requires a process of adaptation, so providing information from the very beginning is a crucial part of preparing students for both academic and social life on campus.
As part of the HIMA MPP HRD Division’s work program, this event was designed to be educational, informative, and orientational. During the event, new students received information from several divisions regarding student needs and campus life throughout their studies. The Business and Production Division provided an orientation on the procedures for obtaining uniforms or grooming supplies, along with the payment system. Meanwhile, the Advocacy Division explains campus administration and the Single Tuition Fee (UKT), including the role of advocacy in helping students understand and navigate various administrative requirements throughout their studies.
In addition to providing technical information, this event also served as an opportunity to introduce the values that will support students’ development during their time in the Tourism Marketing Management Program. The grooming session was part of the event, designed to introduce the 5G standards which serve as the competency framework for the program while instilling the importance of a professional attitude in both academic and professional settings.
The event’s chairperson, Alyssa Fitri Azzahra, expressed her delight at being able to welcome the new students in person during the event. According to her, the participants’ enthusiasm throughout the event was one of the things that left a positive impression.
“I was happy to meet and welcome the new students. Seeing them so enthusiastic during the event actively participating and asking questions made me happy and relieved that the event went off without a hitch,” said Alyssa.
Although there were still a number of challenges during the event that will be evaluated, support from HRD members and various other parties helped ensure the event ran smoothly. Alyssa also expressed her gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility of leading the event and hoped that the orientation would benefit new students as they begin their academic journey.
Through this event, HIMA MPP UPI aims to create an orientation process that is not only informative but also serves as a foundation for new students to familiarize themselves with the academic environment, build a sense of belonging to their program of study, and prepare themselves to grow and contribute throughout their academic journey.
The 2026 New Student Orientation supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. By providing information and preparation from the very start of their academic journey, this event supports the creation of an educational environment that helps students gain the understanding, readiness, and opportunities to grow both academically and personally.
