Training for Culinary MSMEs in Sangkanhurip Village: Empowering Local Entrepreneurs Through Practical Skills

A training program aimed at strengthening the capacity of culinary MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in Sangkanhurip Village was recently held as part of a Community Service Program (PPM). This event took place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Kampung Buhun, and was organized by the Catering Industry Management (CIM) study program from Indonesia University of Education, led by Purna Hindayani, S.Pi., M.T., with the support of faculty members Ilmiati Tsaniah, S.Par., M.M.Par, and Candra Sari Triyana, S.St.Par., M.M., along with five student volunteers.

The training gathered culinary MSME entrepreneurs from the village and provided them with valuable insights and practical skills to boost their businesses in the competitive food industry. The training featured a series of engaging and informative sessions, each focusing on key areas crucial for MSME growth.

Training Topics:

Packaging & Product Branding (Ilmiati Tsaniah, S.Par., M.M.Par):
Ilmiati Tsaniah delivered a session focused on the importance of product packaging and branding. She discussed effective packaging design and how to choose reliable suppliers for packaging materials. Furthermore, Ilmiati emphasized the power of storytelling and crafting a narrative for products through their packaging. This approach helps businesses connect emotionally with customers, making the product more appealing and memorable.

    Online Business Strategies (Emir Syarif, GrabFood West Java Merchant Acquisition Lead):


    Emir Syarif shared practical tips for culinary MSMEs to thrive in the online marketplace. His session covered various aspects of online trading, including:

    • Menu Creation & Pricing: How to create an appealing and profitable menu, with a focus on pricing strategies that align with market demands in the Bandung Regency area.
    • Discount Programs: The use of discount programs specifically for the Bandung Regency region to attract more customers and drive sales.
    • Content Creation (UI & UX): Emir explained how important user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) are in online platforms. He provided tips for creating engaging product content that enhances the customer experience, making it easier for users to navigate and make purchases.
    • Sales Evaluation & Improvement: He also discussed methods to evaluate sales performance, interpret reports, and implement strategies to boost sales. This included tracking customer feedback and adjusting business strategies accordingly.

      The Goal of the Program:

      The primary aim of the training was to equip local MSME owners with practical knowledge and strategies they can apply immediately to improve their business operations, especially in the digital marketplace. Through this program, the participants gained insights into the critical aspects of product branding, online sales, and customer engagement, which are vital to growing and sustaining their businesses.
