TIn accordance with DIKTI decree No. 4350/UN40/HK/2014, the Doctoral Program (S3) in Geography Education at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) was officially established on June 17, 2014. Its objective is to cultivate academics who are capable of generating new knowledge through interdisciplinary research to address complex issues in geography education and make a meaningful contribution at both the national and international levels. This program, which serves as the premier program of the Faculty of Social Science Education (FPIPS), is crucial and prestigious in its demonstration of UPI's ability to provide advanced doctoral education that is research-intensive. This program directly enhances UPI's reputation by producing globally competitive scientists and researchers. Specifically, the university's profile is strengthened by the achievement of "EXCELLENT" accreditation from BAN- PT/LAMDIK and international accreditation from AQAS, which demonstrates its commitment to meeting global academic quality standards. Consequently, this doctoral program is a critical element of UPI's strategy to establish itself as a world-class and comprehensive research university.
Master Programme
The Master’s Program in Geography Education (S2) was established on April 6, 2010, based on the Directorate General of Higher Education Decree No. SK 2293/H40/DT/2010, under the Graduate School, and is currently integrated with the Undergraduate and Doctoral Geography Education Study Programs within the Faculty of Social Science Education. This program is designed to produce advanced educators, curriculum developers, and researchers who are capable of leading innovation in geography education at the higher education level as well as within the broader education system. The program was established in response to the need for graduates of the Undergraduate Geography Education program to continue their studies at the master’s level.
Undergraduate Programme
The Geography Education Study Program was established in 1961 by Prof. Dr. Phil. Supardjo. The accreditation status of the study program is based on Decree Number 1374/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/S/VII/2016 dated June 29, 2016, and in 2020 it obtained an “Excellent” accreditation following accreditation by AQAS. The graduate profile of the program includes prospective Geography teachers and Geography graduates. The Geography Education Study Program aims to produce graduates who are competent as prospective teachers and geography scholars who are excellent, adaptive to the development of science and technology, and capable of addressing educational challenges and spatial dynamics at various scales. The program plays a strategic role in preparing professional and innovative educators to enhance the quality of geography learning. To support this objective, the program continuously strengthens its academic quality through a research-based curriculum, the utilization of geospatial technologies, and the integration of scientific values and character development. The achievement of “Excellent” accreditation and international recognition affirms the program’s commitment to higher education quality standards and reinforces its position as a leading program at both national and international levels.
