Putrajaya, Malaysia — One of the lecturers from the Tourism Marketing Management Study Program, Mr. Rijal Khaerani, S.Si., M.Stat., participated in the 19th Annual Review Meeting of the AIMS Program held on November 4–6, 2025, at DoubleTree by Hilton, Putrajaya, Malaysia.
This annual event was initiated by SEAMEO RIHED (Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development) in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. The meeting served as a strategic forum for representatives of universities participating in the AIMS (ASEAN International Mobility for Students) Program to conduct evaluations, share best practices, and strengthen cross-border cooperation in Southeast Asia and East Asia.
During the event, participants discussed student mobility achievements, program implementation challenges, and strategies for strengthening international collaboration between partner universities in the future. In addition, this forum also served as a networking space that brought together representatives from various universities, ministries, and educational institutions from AIMS member countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and Brunei Darussalam.
The participation of the Tourism Marketing Management Study Program in this activity reflects its commitment to continue expanding its international network and supporting the implementation of the AIMS student exchange program. Through this activity, it is hoped that international cooperation in the field of tourism education can continue to grow, as well as open up wider opportunities for MPP Study Program students to participate in academic mobility abroad.
“The involvement of the MPP Program in this AIMS forum not only strengthens UPI's position in the international network, but also opens up opportunities for students to gain broader cross-cultural learning experiences,” said Rijal Khaerani.
The three-day event was filled with presentations on the achievements of each member country's programs, panel discussions, and plans for the future development of AIMS under the theme “Building Stronger Partnerships for the Future of AIMS.”
In addition to strengthening cross-border academic cooperation, this activity is also in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through collaboration between higher education institutions in the Asian region, the AIMS Program contributes to improving the quality of education, strengthening student capacity, and building global partnerships that support sustainable education transformation.
